Who Am i

Hello everyone, my name is Jalen Childs, the Owner and founder of PerspectiveOfUno. Other than filming, I also play basketball, which I would consider my main passion and love in life. I have been playing since I was about 4 years old and have no plan on stopping anytime soon. Without basketball this ‘persona’ of myself wouldn’t even have existed. At times, I use to put so much pressure on myself to perform and play an errorless basketball, which is impossible. Since I'm already a naturally anxious person, it wouldn't make it any easier when I wouldn't perform the way I wanted to, especially for the amount of work I put in. After my Prep year in California, I was mentally drained after figuring out that I wasn't able to commit to the school I was planning on going to due to eligibility issues when I left my original JUCO to go Prep.
While I was in California, I slowly started to regain a lost passion of mine, which was filmmaking and storytelling. I started to create a documentary for my teammates and myself showcasing what it was truly like playing prep and all the joy and adversity we face while out here. As I started creating these films, I felt the stress, pressure, and anxiety I would put on myself slowly start to rise off my shoulders and diminish. Once I got returned back home for good from California, I realized I couldn't just leave this in the past and had to continue filming and sharing my story since it wasn't only fun, but also helped me in basketball more than I imagined. Fast forward to today and I am in the best space mentally both on and off the court and I believe a majority of that is due to picking up a hobby that I am so very passionate about. Always, always, always, learn and enjoy failing. While I am no where near what I call success, I believe this process will help direct me in the right way.
